The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) is farming’s oldest charity working across England and Wales. Our aim is that no-one from the farming community should face adversity alone. We provide tailored advice, access to counselling, practical and financial support, and so much more.

Story

Farmers work extremely hard all year round to feed the country. Sometimes, they can fall on hard times and it's then that R.A.B.I's support proves invaluable.

R.A.B.I helps working farmers, farmworkers and their families who rely on farming for their main source of income. Help can also be given to retired farmers, farm workers and their dependants, who have spent at least 10 years in the industry.

Many people become beneficiaries of R.A.B.I, receiving regular quarterly or annual grants. R.A.B.I also helps with payments for such things as telephone line rentals, lifeline alarms, TV licences and home-help costs. Additionally, the charity might pay for larger items that people need but cannot afford, such as disability equipment and white goods. The charity will also pay for relief workers on farm in times of sickness, or if a farmer has suffered an accident and can't work.

Finally, there are two residential homes in Suffolk and Somerset, with accommodation available to beneficiaries, self funding farming folk, and lastly non farming individuals in the local community.
