We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Pearson Engineering, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, makes life saving equipment which protects both soldiers and civilians from land mines and IEDs.

This year, our charity team event is raising money for two excellent causes - Cancer Research UK and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. We have chosen these causes because many of our staff and their families have been affected by cancer and we also wanted to show our support for the British Army.

Around 30 of us will be walking the speed march route, in the Scottish highlands, used by Commando trainees in WWII. They had to cover the 7 miles from Spean Bridge to Achnacarry Castle, with a full pack, in under an hour!  Our route is slightly longer, as we will be taking a detour onto a path along the River Spean built by our founder Dr. Alan Reece, who was a keen mountaineer. We will definitely be walking with the spirit and resolve of a commando but probably quite a lot slower!!

This page donates directly to Cancer Research UK - the company will match the final amount raised and donate it to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. Please check out the excellent work they do at www.cancerresearchuk.orgwww.soldierscharity.org.

Please give what you can to support these very worthy causes.

Many thanks!!
