Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm going to be dunked in the cold water at Portishead Marina and a big friendly furry giant in the shape of a Newfoundland Dog is going to jump in and hopefully rescue me and drag me out.
I learnt to swim about 10 or 15 years ago having never learnt as a youngster. I've haven't been swimming for for a number of years either. I'm not a strong swimmer, I can't tread water but I'm proud that I did once manage to swim a length at Bath Sports Centre. I panic when I get to a depth where my feet can't touch the floor of the pool and I swim right next to the edge for added security, so getting in the cold water at Portishead will be a doddle for me right?

I'm doing this for Forever Friends because I want to help improve the lives of patients, their family and friends. The staff are amazing but the facilities are still catching up with the professionalism of the staff. I've spent many days and nights at the RUH whilst my Dad and Mother in Law were admitted with terminal illnesses and were looked after so well in their last days. Then years later my Mum was receiving treatment and then later staying on the William Budd ward before being granted her wish of passing away at home. And much more recently when I myself was waiting for a scan - luckily I received good news but not everyone does. Though-out these times the staff kept us going, helping not just their patient but also the families. In turn, the Forever Friends appeal are helping raise money to improve treatments and facilities in a massive way across the hospital.
