The Staff and Volunteers from GVI's base in Pez Maya will be taking part in a charitable fundraising event entitled the Pez Maya's FINathon 3.0. For the third year time this gritty, team building, and eye opening challenge will involve numerous shark related games, documentaries, and ultimately, will raise awareness for countless individuals. Culminating the event will be an all day Lionfish derby in which we will hunt this invasive species and decrease their impact upon the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. All proceeds raised will be donated to Project Aware, one of our partner organizations. Project Aware works directly with marine conservation efforts around the world pertaining to sharks, rays, and various other forms of marine life, expanding upon environmental awareness through diver education. Specifically, the money we raise will go directly towards their campaigns for Dive Against Debris, Responsible Shark and Ray Tourism, and Project AWARE's 10 tips for divers to protect the ocean planet. These campaigns are ones we hold closely and dearly to our hearts, and we hope that those of you viewing this page will help this cause in whichever ways you can. Cheers.
