In 2012, my daughter became very ill, very suddenly and was admitted to the local hospital. She was diagnosed with a bleed on the brain at just 4 weeks of age. She was then transferred to Bristol Royal Children's Hospital, where she spent 6 weeks in a medically induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit, to relieve the pressure on her brain. Without the aid of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Children's Fund, my partner and I would not have been able to remain in Bristol to support our daughter. They provided us with funds so that we were fed and accommodated within close proximity to the hospital.
