One third of the world’s undernourished children are from India. 

The money raised will be used to sponsor an individual school in India so that every child will be provided a free mid-day meal for a year. The hope is that access to free meals will increase school attendance as parents are enabled to send their children to school rather than work.

As I'm in no shape to do anything strenuous like run a marathon, I promise to MATCH every donation made up to the target.  As soon as the target is reached, I will send regular updates from the school as soon as I receive them.

Akshaya Patra's mission is to provide ‘Food for Education’ to 5 million children by 2020, with help from people like you. They are operating in 24 locations in 11 states of India serving mid-day meals to over 1.6 million children every day.
