Story
This summer I am working at the Peligoni Club in Zakinthos, Greece. Together with a friend, we are going to cycle there rather than fly!
We have the month of June, and are planning to cycle from Calais, through France, Switzerland and Italy, where we take the ferry from Brindisi to Greece. This is approximately 2300km. We are working on 100km per day, and camping at night.
I am working in a pub in Cirencester during the term, and also doing construction work in my holidays, in order to pay my way there. I am on the way to reaching my target - 1000 pounds, which will pay for bike and all equipment, travel and food.
However, we feel that as this is quite an undertaking, we would like to try and raise some money for our chosen charity, hence why I am writing to you. I want to assure you that all monies donated will go to the charity. The Peligoni Club have offered to donate the cost of my flight towards this charity, which is a great help.
The charity that i have chosen to do it for is the Samburu trust. The reason for this is because, I worked for the family that started this Charity, who live on a ranch in the north of Kenya. They take care of their local Samburu community by providing boar wholes, preventing poaching, education, and also assisting with first aid when needed. Therefore, I can guaranty that every penny that i raise will go directly to helping the Samburu communities.
After the previous attacks in north Kenya due to the massive droughts and the need for water, i feel that is is essential that the Samburu Trust has the money to support those in need.
I have had first hand experience of this as i worked for the family that runs the trust.
