We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Those of you who know me will be well aware that I've not done much running in my time. By 'much', of course, I mean 'any'.

Mind, if there's one thing worth running for (or should that be from?), it's The Bullshit, which is why I've naively signed up for the Cancer Research Race for Life, in the foolish hope that my tree trunks can carry me for 5k round Hyde Park this July.

But I'm not doing this without some serious sponsorship. (It takes a lot to get this girl into a tracksuit.) And don't go giving me the credit crunch excuse, either. Cancer beats credit crunch.

Running around a park wearing pink with a load of giggling, cowboy-hat-wearing charidee-wacky women is high on my list of Things To Avoid Doing On A Sunday. But when you consider that one year ago to the week of my Race for Life, I was beginning chemotherapy for stage three breast cancer, the thought of pulling on my Nikes for a fundraising run with strangers looks like the makings of a pretty peachy weekend.

Come on, then. Hands in pockets.

Oh, and if you're a UK taxpayer, remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating so that an extra 25%, plus a 3% supplement, can be added to your gift at no cost to you. (But at considerable cost to me. I will be wearing a tracksuit, after all.)
