Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Many of my friends will know that I quit smoking in July 2004 after a 30-year nicotine addiction. With the support of my gorgeous and wonderful partner, Trevor, I started running in January 2005. The aim was to help me lose 15 lbs - weight gained since quitting.
When the opportunity arose to run in this race my reasons were selfish... it was a chance to prove something to myself. Bear in mind that a few months ago I couldn't run for more than 2 minutes without getting breathless, let alone run 5 Kms without stopping! However, it is difficult NOT to get caught up in the excitement of this women-only race for life and NOT to think about what sponsorship will actually mean to this cause... cancer research. We all know that cancer is an unrelenting disease that can attack ANY ONE OF US AT ANY TIME.
I'd like to dedicate this race to all the people whose lives will probably be extended by giving up smoking. Praise must be given to the Solihull Primary Care Trust's "Time2Quit" service and their dedication in helping people to give up smoking. I give personal thanks to Dawn Powers for her encouragement!
My diet is going very well - Trevor has lost 15 lbs!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
