Fundraising for Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My reasons for doing this charity event are varied and i could go on for miles but will try to keep it brief.
I normally delete some emails before even reading them but for whatever reason i opened the one from spirefm back in November. I was somewhat intrigued to read the info about the trek. It’s certainly not what I would normally choose to do. Then next day a lovely lady came into the salon for a treatment. Sadly She had recently lost her husband and she was telling me he had to use the scanner on numerous occasions throughout his fight with cancer. He had to wait for appointments and was regularly using the one in ‘the carpark’. This struck me hard and i was constantly thinking. What if........ and to go to a carpark for a scan??? Why oh why??? How awful. And what if he hadnt needed to wait for scan.......
that night i read through the details of the trek and before i knew it i had registered. No going back now..... if i can help just a tiny tiny bit to help people to not have to wait for a scan and certainly not have it in a carpark!!!
I know of many people including family and friends who have had to wait far too long to use the MRI scanner.
After signing up i read the small print.... OMG!! Heights. Creepy crawlies. Strange food.. long flight. NO LOOS. ARGHHHH. MY WORST NIGHTMARES ALL IN ONE.
I will overcome these thoughts as am Doing this trek no matter what.
I am not begging for money but any donation will be gratefully received. I will be donating over half of the money myself and if i dont raise enough then i will fund the whole trip myself even if it means giving up a sunshine holiday. This is a great cause. So a massive thankyou to anyone who donates. Doesnt matter how small. It all adds up.
5th February update: my mum had a heart attack whilst on holiday last week and she has since been diagnosed with two heart problems

Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. even though she is now home and doing well she is on the LONG WAITING LIST for a MRI SCAN. Because the waiting list is so long In salisbury she’s more than likely going to have to go to Southampton general hospital. Just another reason to help get one of these life saving machines more local to us!!!
