We promote understanding to campaign for change, influencing policy

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 30th July, 2017 I will be riding 100 miles to raise money for the British Dyslexia Association. The BDA provides practical everyday training and support to parents, teachers and employers to understand specific learning difficulties. It also provides a voice for dyslexic people to encourage government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society, enabling dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential.

At present the BDA is campaigning in 3 main areas:

  • To encourage schools to work towards becoming dyslexia-friendly.

  • To reduce the number of dyslexic young people in the criminal justice system.
  • To enable dyslexic people to achieve their potential in the workplace.

I have been working with primary school children with specific learning difficulties for several years and see first hand the challenges that many face to achieve in school and how hard they work to overcome them. I would like to live in a society that is working equally hard for them. This is why I am fundraising for the BDA.
