Event: Amsterdam Marathon, on 21 October 2018
In memory of Fay Rowe
We provide an air ambulance helicopter to help to save lives in Cornwall.

Story

23rd September 2017 started as a normal Saturday but by the end of the day my world had shattered.  This last year has been the saddest, most horrible, difficult year of my life and every day is a struggle without my incredible Mum as part of my life.

The Cornwall Air Ambulance were first on the scene to help Mum and Dad after a drunk and drug filled man decided to take his flash sports car on a crazy high speed drive and crash into my Mum and Dad's car while they were on holiday. The air ambulance crew did everthing they could to save Mum and Dad, and transport them to hospital.  They saved Dad's life, but tragically for Mum her injuries were too severe.  I'd like to raise money to say thank you to them for all they did.

I'll be running the 42km of the Amsterdam marathon on Sunday 21st October in honour and thanks for the 42 years I got to spend with the most wonderful, kind, fun, selfless, warm, caring, devoted, beautiful and loving mum.  42 years was far far too short and my heart is truly broken and the loss just doesn't get any easier as each day passes.

I've chosen Amsterdam as I was born in Holland and lived there until I was 3. Mum and I had talked of going back to Holland this year to cycle around and visit places she loved.  Center Parcs was another love Mum and I shared, our visits started after I finished my GCSE's and carried on until February last year but we'd never ventured to one outside the UK.  We'll be spending a week at a Center Parcs in Holland after the marathon.

Mum was so supportive and proud of my running (as she was of everything I did) and the memory of her support at the Brighton marathon, standing with the sea she loved behind her, waving her scarf furiously with her face beaming as I ran past at 7 miles, 11 miles and the finish is something I will never forget.  It will be so hard running and knowing that she won't be there at the end.
