The Haemochromatosis Society

We support people with haemochromatosis to improve lives and survival rates

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 23rd April 2017 I will be running the London Marathon for the Haemochromatosis Society, a brilliant charity which has helped provide support to my Dad who was diagnosed last year.

Haemochromatosis is a genetic disorder which causes those affected to absorb too much iron. Having too much iron means that it is deposited in the organs in the body, leading to serious complications including liver and heart damage, joint damage and mental health problems. Unfortunately there is no cure and people with this disease must make radical diet and lifestyle changes alongside having blood let regularly.

Despite being a relatively common condition, little is known about Haemochromatosis and sadly it is often diagnosed very late. The Haemochromatosis Society funds vital research into the condition and helps to raise awareness to ensure early diagnosis.

Please donate whatever you can, to not only motivate me round 26.2 miles, but also to help this wonderful charity continue to help thousands of people.  Thank you!
