Smile for Joel
Campaign by Victim Support (RCN 298028)
Smile for Joel was founded by Suzy Richards, who lost her son, brother and father in the terrorist attack in Tunisia in June 2015. Funds will go to VS to help reach more people in need of support

Story

When I was 7 years old, my family and I were held hostage for several hours by terrorists in Ireland. My memory of it? A man standing in the corner of the bedroom wearing a balaclava, strings around his neck to tie us up holding a shotgun. For years it affected me. I wouldn't use the bathroom without one of my sisters walking me down the hall; had fits as a kid and nightmares.

If this happened now, we would have had counselling etc. I spoke openly about it to friends over the

years so I guess by doing this has helped me overcome some fears.
My friend Elaine asked me to fundraise for Smile for Joel in memory of Joel, his uncle and grandfather who were killed in Tunisia 3 years ago by a terrorist. Smile for Joel supports the charity Victim Support who help people affected by terrorism.
I brought the Smile for Joel wristband to the North Pole in April and will be running the Athens marathon on the 12th November in his memory. If you would like to sponsor me and support this charity (which unfortunately has to exist for the times that's in it) I'll be forever grateful.
