Many of us are related to or know of persons suffering with Alzheimers. A particularly cruel form of dementia, it can make us strangers to those we love the most and send its sufferers into an unfamiliar world playing tricks with their memories. 

For a number of years now I have allowed my own fitness to deteriorate and my weight to increase. Personal circumstances over the past 18 months or so have given me the focus to try and turn that around and attempt something I have never done before,  run a half marathon - the Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 20th October 2013.
