So I have done something very silly and offered to run the Brighton Marathon next year.
Silly because I have not done any significant running since I was at school - as anyone who has played football with me since will no doubt testify.
And silly because last time I did any physical exercise my dear old dad said I looked, and I quote, 'fat and slow'. Cheers pups.
The REMF does fantastic work supporting young footballers in this country and abroad in the US and Africa. It was set up in memory of Robert Eaton, who died during the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre and has raised a shed load of cash since then.
I never knew Robert, but having been involved with the charity for the last few years, it is a cause very close to my heart.
Having been inspired by a Palace fan running in an Albion shirt last time round I have decided that if I hit my £500 target I will run in a full Palace kit. With Glenn Murray's name on it.
If anyone can spare a few quid I would be hugely appreciative.
And if not - well, at least I won't be quite as fat and slow at the end of the race.
