Fundraising for Kidney Research UK
Story
Update! for those of you who don't know Phil received his kidney transplant, he went into Guys Hospital on the 31st May 2017 our daughter Lucy's 4th birthday and had the operation the next day, the match came via the Shared Pairing Pool in which his dad donated his kidney to another couple in the pool in exchange for one for Phil. There have been ups and downs and biopsys taken on the new kidney but touch wood he is now 18 months post transplant and doing well. 💜
The Richardson-Hammond Team are continuing what they do best .. As most of you are aware Phil is currently waiting for his second kidney transplant, both his kidneys failed due to End Stage Renal Failure (ESRD), his current transplant is now failing and he has been on the transplant list for 2.5 years, half of our daughter Lucy's life. She is too little to understand but she does find it hard when her daddy can't come on days out with us or play as much with her because he is just to tired.
Fundraising is so important and in just 14 years ago when Phil had his transplant things have improved greatly, they have a Shared Pairing Pool as an option for a transplant if you have a live doner prepared to donate but isnt a match, also they can now transplant to people who arn't the same blood type using the process of plasma exchange, these options were not available 14 years ago so raising money and much needed funds is vital to the Charity and all fellow kidney patients.
To date we have raised £7,675.00 for Kidney Research UK and have many other events lined up to continue being able to fundraise for this amazing charity that the Richardson family (and many others) rely on.
