Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. If you've clicked this far then please stay a little longer and read on as I'm looking for kind souls like your good self to support a cause which matters deeply to my family and I, namely the Dyspraxia Foundation. Dyspraxia, if you aren't familiar with the condition, is a development coordination disorder which effects communication. My niece Susannah was born, and will live with dyspraxia her whole life long.

Firstly, if you aren't familiar with the Marathon des Sables, in a nutshell, it is a 6 day ultra-marathon, covering around 260km through the Moroccan Sahara, styling itself as the "hardest footrace on the planet". It's "not for everybody" apparently. Competitors must carry all their own equipment except water and tent. I'll even have to do my own cooking..dammit..

I completed my first marathon in December 2017, just to see if running was "fun". It probably doesn't need to be said but this is a considerable step up. I'm a hobby runner, not an ultra-athlete; the aim is to finish and raise money along the way.

I will cross the start line on 8th April, less than a month from now with start number 352 and will endeavour to update as to my progress throughout as much as Saharan WIFI affords :)

I can feel some some crushing pain on the horizon and there may even  be a few a "why" moments...any contribution that you choose to make, will keep the feet moving, so please help me get over the line :)

Thanks for your time

Rick
