Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over 2017, Myself, Family Members and Friends will be taking part in a number of events, ranging from Fun Runs for the smaller participants (My Daughter - Chloe Jane) to Half and Full Marathons (Liam & Malcolm). I (Becky Jane) aim to start small (as still recovering). The first event will be 14/Jan/2017 Maldwyn Harriers/Ladies Celebration Run (5K). Myself and Chloe Jane (9) will be taking part in this. I may have to walk for some of it but Chloe Jane will not - she will run the whole thing with ease. As the year goes by I hope to run a full 5k, 10k, and even a Half Marathon towards the latter part (under 2hours). My Son - Liam Lees (17) has just completed his first Half Marathon (1h35) and is planning to run many more through out 2017 - aiming to beat the above time, then when he turns 18, a Full Marathon (in a very good time). My Husband - Rev Malcolm Carroll will also be aiming to run a Full Marathon at some point. Each event will be shared on this page once the nearest has been and gone.

Note, not all will be runs - a number of us aim to do the Cross Wales Walk - 41.4miles on the 24th/June/2017 (http://newtown-rotary.org.uk/site/node/398). The list will increase as 2017 goes on...

All money raised will be donated to -

'The National Amyloidosis Centre (the NAC)
it is part of the University College London (UCL) Division of Medicine and is situated at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. The NAC has been at the cutting edge of treatment and research into all aspects of amyloidosis for over 25 years. Since 1999 the NAC has been responsible for the UK national caseload of amyloidosis. The NAC is a highly specialised NHS clinical service funded by NHS England to provide a diagnostic service for amyloidosis patients throughout the entire UK'.

The reason I have chosen to raise funds for the above is due to a recent illness-discovery...

Whilst being unwell, a blood test led to the belief that I have Amyloidosis & Myeloma (its been quite a scarey time). A brief stay at The NAC (and many many tests) concludes that whilst I do not have such, I do have 1% Amyloid Proteins in my Bone Marrow which may lead to Amyloidosis/Myeloma in the future (how soon, no one knows). So any money put in to finding the cure for Amyloidosis will not only benefit those who are suffering now but who knows, may even benefit me.

And as for the future, no one thinks of death till something life changing happens -

At the begining of 2016, I was fit and healthy. Planning on running a Half Marathon then eventually a Marathon. Even walk the Cross Wales Walk, I kept putting them off, thinking 'next year'.

Now (end of 2016) I am aware that if I keep putting things off they may  never happen. Hence the list of events for 2017.

I will be greatful for any support recieved, donations, cheering on or maybe joining us in one of the events?

Thank you in advance

Becky Jane and Family
