Story
After much deliberation, Brian and I decided that despite saying "we would never do the London Marathon again" (or any Marathon for that matter) we wanted to raise more money for The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity in 2017. So after a few glasses of Vin Rouge last weekend (September 2016) we discussed and agreed we would ask the Charity if we could enter. They accepted!
The charity support construction workers and families who fall upon hard
times whether it be death, illness or injury. My fellow Welfare Officers in the
SW Branch (David & Susanne) and I have carried out over 15 cases locally this year.
Examples include:
Roofer (accident on site - assisted with rent
payments)Carpenter's wife (husband died suddenly of
cancer - assisted with funeral costs)Ground worker (assisted in funeral costs of
wife who also worked in the Construction industry)Window fitter (Homeless - assisted with white
goods for new accommodation)Without the generous donations from individuals and companies, we would be unable to support these cases, many of which had no other help available to them.
Please help us achieve our goal, trust me we will
be training very hard to achieve it!!
