Story
Thank you for visiting my page and considering donating to Borne!
My involvement in this challenge is a classic case of why you shouldn't have too many beers with Angus Wilson!
Shortly before Christmas 2019, Angus and I lost a dear friend in tragic circumstances, way before his time. He was a great promoter of living life to the full and this challenge would have been right up his street. Events such as these show you only get one shot at life, so you need to make the most of it and try and generate some good along the way. Having personally experienced bringing up a child with cerebral palsy, Borne represents a cause which cannot help but pull the heart strings. I look forward to supporting them in this challenge, meeting new people, sharing experiences and slightly less so sharing a tent with Angus for several days!
Premature birth is the leading cause of death for children under the age of five around the world. It is the single biggest cause of neonatal deaths in the UK. From the moment they are born, premature babies face many challenges. Their lives are often complicated by long-term disability, such as cerebral palsy, chronic lung disease or learning difficulties. Yet, we still do not know why so many babies are born too soon and how to stop it. Borne was created to change this. In March 2020, I am joining a team of adventurers battling their way across Costa Rica to raise £250,000 for Bornes life-saving research into the causes of premature birth. With your support, we can help prevent babies from being born too soon and give every child the best chance in life, free from disability. Thank you for supporting me and Borne!
