Story
Our journey and visit to Galilee and the West Bank in early 2016 was truly amazing, sometimes quite emotional and extremely thought provoking.
We hope we have been in touch personally with all our friends who helped by sponsoring us on our ' walk beside the Sea of Galilee 2016'.
We managed to meet our personal target and thank you all, most sincerely and whole heartedly for your generous gifts . The project as a whole raised in excess of £60,000 for the McCabe Educational Trust, a truly magnificent amount. This extra-ordinary charity directly supports those in need in Palestine. Helping to demonstrate that the people in the occupied territories are not forgotten.
On our return, we certainly will not be abandoning this worthy cause. Robert is hoping to return to the West Bank at some point with fellow photographers. It is often said, “ a picture is worth a thousand words” so by sharing images of life on the West Bank they might help to tell the world of the injustices that are so evident, behind an eight metre high separation wall.
In the mean time I hope you will feel able to make a donation to the McCabe Educational Trust.
The McCabe Educational Trust is the charitable wing of McCabe Pilgrimages, it functions independently with its own board of Directors and is a registered charity. The trust was launched in 1991 at Lambeth Palace when they were honoured by George Carey, the then Archbishop of Canterbury, agreeing to become our first chairman. From relatively small beginnings the Trust now distributes about £200,000 annually in grant aid.
All money raised goes directly to three specific projects,
the Jeel al-Amal Boys Home in Bethany
the Al Shurooq Blind School in Bethlehem and
the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR)
All three organisations are doing wonderful work in a place that the world sometimes chooses to forget. They are visited regularly by people on McCabe Pilgrimages, just as we did.
