Help us create a fabulous new Nature Reserve by travelling the length of the 900 mile Gwent Levels reen network.

Story

Gwent Wildlife Trust has a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase Bridewell Common, near Magor Marsh Nature Reserve. Help protect these 81.45 acres of ancient marshland on the wildlife rich Gwent Levels by sponsoring me.

I'm contributing 100 miles to the Bridewell Reen-lay to help raise funds for this new nature reserve on land that could otherwise be lost. For wildlife, for people and for the local historic landscape. Here's how:

On August 28th I'm challenging myself to cycle from Cardiff Castle, across the length of the Gwent Levels and over the (old) Severn Bridge to Bristol Castle and back in a day.

This will be a challenge because I am by no means a professional cyclist, yes I cycle locally but I've never gone more than 20 or so miles. I'll be doing it on my mid 90s GT mountain bike which is OK but it's not exactly a speedy road racer fit for the Tour de France. I estimate it will take me about 10 to 12 hours so the first challenge will be getting up early in the morning to set off.

As the Fundraising Officer for Gwent Wildlife Trust I usually organise the events but don't take part. This time I'm putting the keyboard down and putting my helmet on so please donate.
