Story

Welcome to my latest JustGiving page. The picture above is of my father in 1929 on his shiny new bike. In his latter years Parkinson's made his life rather miserable, and now one of my cycling buddies has it even more severely.

Last year I rode from Bristol, to Oxford, to Cambridge in aid of Parkinson's UK and raised a fair bit of money. That's two days of 100 miles each! This September 22nd and 23rd I'm doing it again, hopefully better prepared for such a strenuous endeavour, and with your support and encouragement I should just about make it again.

It is now 201 years since Parkinson’s was first identified. Today it is so common that almost everyone knows somebody with Parkinson's or who has died from it.

For the second half of the ride this year I will again be accompanied by John Todd, Professor of Precision Medicine at the University of Oxford, who is researching links between Parkinson's disease and diabetes:

Because 201 years of Parkinson’s is too long, your donations will go directly towards research for new and better treatments in years, not decades. Together we can bring forward the day when no one fears Parkinson’s. If you think this is a cause worthy of your wonga, then please donate here.

Thank you.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
