Story
In 2017 I will be running two ultramarathons to raise funds for Nuevas Esperanzas’ unrestricted funds, which can be used in times of emergency.
The first is on 19 March 2017, when I will attempt to run the 34 mile Sussex CTS Ultramarathon. The second is the Tiree Ultramarathon, 35 miles around the cost of Tiree, Scotland, on the 10th September 2017.
As an incentive to complete, you are invited to donate £0.25, £0.50 or £1 per mile. However any amount will be much appreciated.
Nuevas Esperanzas is a sustainable development organisation working with communities on the Telica Volcano, Nicaragua.
Last year, the El Niño climatic event caused droughts so severe that 500 families feared for their water source. Emergency projects were arranged to protect springs further down the volcano, including storage tanks and washing facilities. Work could only start when funds were available, showing the importance of having reserves that can be pulled upon in emergencies.
Although this page is linked to the NDW 100 event, I will not be attempting it this year.
