Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our event is supporting the Rotherham Hospice with charitable donations through our justgiving page. Rotherham United has kindly donated the RUFC community bus for our endeavours and all the participants are self funding the challenge as well as making a donation to the hospice. Perhaps you would also be kind enough to donate just a few quid to the hospice through our justgiving page!

Donate by hitting the green 'donate' button on the team GGS justgiving page or simply text to 70070 the initials NTPS99 and your amount. E.g. NTPS99 £5

The challenge:

The National 3 Peaks.... not for the faint hearted!

If we look through ‘rose tinted specs’ our challenge will be a wonderful saunter amongst the most beautiful parts of Britain’s national parks. We will view amazing scenery the countries of England, Scotland and Wales has to offer whilst picnicking on the summits of the country’s highest mountains!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, maybe not!

In actual fact the challenge six of us are to undertake will test our physical well being and our mental agility whilst trekking these three mountains ‘back to back’ and completing them all within 24 hours of starting. We’re not novice trekkers so we already understand the challenges ahead and know that we can’t underestimate the magnitude of the task. We will need to deal with fatigue, sleep deprivation, night hiking and just sheer exhaustion.

After the commute to Scotland we start our challenge in Fort William with Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK! On completing our first mountain ascent we race against the clock to get to the Lake District to climb the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike, only to jump back onto the kindly donated RUFC bus. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we won't be soaked to the skin as we will still have the highest mountain in Wales to climb, Mount Snowden.

Our dedicated driver (Head of Logistics), Stu, has a mammoth task also. Stuart will not be climbing the mountains but including the journey to and from Rotherham he will be navigating the RUFC bus over 1000 miles including the 10 hours and 500 miles during the challenge.

Thanks loads
Up the Millers!
