Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

I have done long walks for many years now including several times up Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil ( sometimes there was even a view from the top!). My partner's parents live in Cloondara ( also known as Clondra) near Longford which is where the Royal Canal, which starts in Dublin, meets the Shannon. When doing a long walk from Longford along the canal with my brother, Frank, I got the idea of doing the whole canal walk and getting that sponsored. I thought that the year I hit 60 would be a good year to do it.

I have been a member of Greenpeace for many years and always admired the great, vital and brave work they do. You can find out more about their current campaigns if you click their icon below.

Frank, who turned 70 earlier this year, will be joining me on the walk. We will start at Spencer Dock on the Liffey on May 7 and hopefully arrive at Richmond Harbour in Cloondara on May 11.
