Story
My Dad was diagnosed with Dementia in 2010. We knew something wasnt right before then though, in fact the last time Dad was Dad was at our wedding in 2008.
Over the next few years his condition worsened and the demands on my Mum increased. We put Dad into Respite care in 2013.
Hes now at an advanced stage, unable to talk, unable to move unassisted and needing a thickening agent in his drinks just so he won't choke.
Having a family member with Alzheimers is like losing them without being able to grieve.
Alzheimers Research UK are inviting people to walk or run 100k over the summer.
I'm going to do it over 10 days, doing 10k a day starting on the 8th September, my Dad's birthday.
Any amount you are able to give will help get closer to a cure.
Thanks
Ian
