Story

Cycling to save forgotten species...

Ann and Simon are cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End…

… well at least we are going to try! We are both cyclists
but we have never done anything on this scale before. So we don’t know if we can make the full 1,000 miles (we’ll both be 61 at the time of the trip in July and August), but we are going to do our very best! We’ll need to cycle about 50 miles a day for three weeks and we are already in training, but have only done 50 miles once so far!

The funds raised will be split 50:50 between two UK-based conservation charities:

Synchronicity Earth (SE) – this is the conservation
organization that Simon has been working for since January. SE funds conservation organizations, especially in Africa and Asia. We try to fill gaps in the overall conservation effort by funding forgotten species and places. All funds raised for SE will go to projects on the ground (for example threatened species in Southeast Asia). None of it will be spent on overheads, nor on
Simon’s salary!

A Rocha UK (ARUK) is one of a global family of A Rocha organisations that seek to get Christians involved in practical conservation. Ann is on the ARUK board. Foxearth is ARUK’s nature reserve which is home to at least 21 species of dragonfly and is the only wildlife reserve in the UK managed primarily for dragonflies and damselflies - see arocha.org.uk/foxearth.

All funds raised will go to SE, which will then split the funds 50/50 with ARUK.
