SOEast Herts is organising another Charity Summer Ball in July which will help raise important funds necessary to ensure the charity branch of SOGB can continue the fantastic work that it started in 2009.

Founded in 2009, by Neil Ward Deputy Head at Amwell View School and Specialist Sports College, a school for pupils who have severe and complex learning difficulties, SOEH now has over twenty sports and social clubs throughout East Herts and the Borough of Broxbourne.

The clubs range from Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Football, Boccia, to Dance and Choir and all of the clubs offer year round training and the opportunity to take part in competition or performances.  Special Olympics is predominantly for people with a learning disability and caters for people aged between 8-80 years, however, some of our SO clubs are open to people with other disabilities (Physical and Sensory) and also to those without a disability, through the Unified Teams. In addition members learn vital self-help and social team skills. Much of the learning is through fun, with the club offering its members the change to take part in activities usually only available to, and often taken for granted by, those more mentally and physically able.

The charity’s clubs and groups are primarily run by volunteers and all funds are re-invested so that SOEH can continue to develop new clubs, support and sustain the existing ones and the volunteer coaches.   It is, therefore, imperative that we raise money through events like the Charity Summer Ball so that SOEH can continue this work that so many local children and adults can enjoy and continue to enjoy well into the future.

The Charity Summer Ball will include live entertainment, a signed memorabilia charity auction and of course a raffle. Hopefully, here is where you can help: can you donate any Signed Auction Items, Services, Gifts, Raffle Prizes, Food and Drink, Vouchers etc., that we can auction or raffle off at this year’s Charity Summer Ball? If you prefer, you are most welcome to make a financial donation to the cause.  Any support will be gratefully received and very much appreciated.
