The Edinburgh Marathon may be cancelled but I will be running a marathon locally regardless and taking part in the virtual event on 3rd June. I am raising money to support BCHA's 'Somewhere Safe to Stay' project.

BCHA is a not-for-profit, registered Housing Association that have been supporting local communities and those experiencing homelessness for the past 50 years. Whilst the organisation originated in Bournemouth, there are now a number of services across the South and several within Plymouth.

I previously worked at 'Somewhere Safe to Stay' when the project began in September 2019 and I hope to raise money to support this great service. It is an eleven bed temporary accommodation with 24-hour support in Plymouth. The service accommodates adult with complex needs, both singles and couples who are at risk of, or experiencing, rough sleeping and sofa surfing.  Customers are supported to move into their own accommodation through creative and innovative working in order to achieve the most appropriate outcome for them. Ongoing tenancy support is provided throughout the transition into independent living. Whilst housing support is critical, customers receive support for a range of complex needs including physical & mental health; domestic abuse; substance misuse and financial difficulties.

'Somewhere Safe to Stay' is enthusiastic about creating a positive environment, offering opportunities and activities for the residents during their stay as well as equipping them for moving on. Any donations received will be greatly appreciated and make a huge difference to the project and customers alike.
