I never thought I'd be saying this as I'm just about to turn 45, but...

In June this year I'm going to be attempting my second ever half marathon.  The first was more than 10 years ago, so this is going to be an uphill struggle!  Here's why I'm running:

1) Trev asked me to.  If you know Trev, then you know that if she sets her mind on something, there's not much can stop her.

2) Children First is a charity that does valuable work with children in the city of Derby, which is near where I grew up and where I got my first proper job, working with people who were homeless and in housing need.  We're running as part of the Children First team, so I want to do them proud and raise some proper money!

3) Running, for me, is better than therapy.  It helps me keep my head on straight when my life-long companions worry and sadness want all of my attention.  It's also a way of hopefully improving my health so that I get to live a long and happy life with the two loves of my life, Guy and Erin. 

Training has started (and has started to hurt!), but I'm off to a flying start!  Please support me if you can - this is a massively personal challenge, for a great cause.
