As some of you will be aware, Matt Ingham's father, Terry Ingham, is terminally ill. He has been running ecl for a number of years and has recently established ecl as its own charity. ecl will be Terry's legacy that will continue to support his passion for children and education. Any donations will be gratefully received to allow ecl to continue for a great many years to come and to carry on with the type of work described below. Thank you for your support.

The ECL Foundation is an international research and innovation charity dedicated to transforming the education and care of children and young adults. The Foundation's research and practice over the past decade has shown that it is possible to substantially improve learning environments by focussing on the emotional well-being and creativity of children and young adults. And when this happens, joy in learning returns and children and young adults achieve their full potential - a creative intelligence grounded in an enjoyment of life and a sense of belonging.

The Foundation's project at Netherfield School in Nottingham is an excellent example of ECL in action. The Foundation's catalysts worked with teachers and parents at the school for a five-year period to improve their teaching methodologies and resources. The project has just culminated in Ofsted moving the school from the 'special measures' category to 'outstanding'. The Foundation now intends to continue expanding its practice and start tackling some of the toughest issues in modern society, such as gang culture in the UK and in South African townships.
