March 2020 saw COVID hit - fellow workers at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust went above and beyond to deliver compassionate care to our patients.

Throughout the pandemic we collaborated with local communities to raise funds so that we could deliver One Culture of Care to our team mates by providing wellbeing support and resources.   We will be forever grateful to our communities and the charity for their generosity.  

Now it's time for me to pay it forward!  I'll be attempting to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge whilst hopefully raising some much needed funds to continue to support our fantastic colleagues at CHFT. 

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks route is 24.5 miles and includes 1585m of ascent.  I've conquered Snowdon and Gros Piton in previous years but never have I attempted anything on such a scale!  But I am excited to witness the amazing views first hand from the top of Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). 

With less than 8 weeks to go the reality is setting in, what have I signed up to do?  A couple of training sessions in and I'm beginning to realise what a great feat this challenge is... and I thought I was pretty fit.  Doubts are setting in; can I really do this?  I tell myself 'of course you can - you can do anything you put your mind to!'  Anyone who knows me will be aware of my own health struggles in previous years which will make this exhilarating fundraiser even more of a challenge but I'm determined to complete it!! 

I'll also be supporting and encouraging a very dear friend who sadly and unexpectedly lost the love of her life last year.  Throughout the climb I'm sure there'll be a whole range of emotions, tears of sadness, happiness and lots of pain (in more ways than one) but once we reach the end it will certainly be worth it!!
