SanPad - ending period poverty at SKSN for 50 girls · 15 February 2019

Indiability is working to improve the ordinary lives, opportunities, and human rights of rural, underprivileged children and youth with physical disabilities in India. Our core mission is this largest minority’s social inclusion into mainstream society, which we achieve through education and sport.

Story

SKSN is a school in Rajasthan, India for children with disabilities.  It is supported by Indiability Foundation.

Most of the children at SKSN come from extremely poor families. They live hand to mouth and  can barely afford food. They have no money to buy sanitary towels. This makes life extremely difficult for these girls with severe disabilities.

These girls have to improvise to help them with their period every month. Some of them even resort to padding their underwear with soil or even ash which makes them highly susceptible to infections. The embarrassment of not having adequate protection means many girls will miss lessons whilst they are having their period.

Our goal is to pay for sanitary pads for 50 girls throughout their education. It will cost £26.00 per year for each girl. They will each receive 6 pairs of underwear and pads every month.

Anything you can do to raise funds to contribute towards these pads would be really appreciated. Let me know if you would like to be involved and I can provide further details.

Thank you for being interested in this project.
