The team at Insight are helping me raise money for Cancer Research UK, we have decided to take on the gruelling 12k course set over ultra-gritty, properly muddy, obstacle loaded farmland on Saturday 13th May 2017.
I decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK as it is an illness which has greatly affected me and my family in the last year. It was a very tough year, my mum was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Luckily she found it and the cancer was removed quickly as it was growing rapidly. After a gruelling year of treatment including chemotherapy and radiotherapy she is thankfully all clear and on the road to recovery.
A few months after my mum was diagnosed and receiving treatment, my father in law was then diagnosed with terminal cancer. This was a massive shock to the family and completely unexpected. He initially went to the doctors complaining of a pain in his ribs, which he thought was a pulled muscle. However on investigation the hospital found he had an incurable cancer in numerous parts of his body. My father in law deteriorated rapidly which was a shock, as we did not anticipate how quickly he would decline in such a very short time. He died peacefully at home exactly 8 weeks after his diagnosis.
Over the last 40 years Cancer Research has helped double the survival rates in the UK, in the 1970s just a quarter of people survived, Today the survival rate is around 50%
My Colleagues at Insight Strategic Associates, Joshua and I are taking on Nuclear races in aid of Cancer Research UK and hope that you will support us with your sponsorship.
