Story
We are going to shave our heads to raise money for Loving Humanity! I, Sarah, am pretty attached to my hair (it's really grown on me) and I'll look kind of like a seal without it, and Erin just hopes people won't confuse her bald self with her pug. Overall we are hoping that we can at least attempt to raise some money and awareness for this important cause by shearing it all off. Millions of people have had to abandon their homes, many of whom have to deal with periods and/or experience incontinence alongside living in horrendous conditions. I know it's a drop in the ocean compared to how much support is needed for refugees worldwide, but we hope this will help in some small way!
Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated!
About Loving Humanity:
We've all heard about the refugee crisis and the horrendous situations that millions of displaced people are facing right now. What we don't often hear about is a lack of access to quality sanitary products in refugee camps.
Despite sanitary pads being distributed in the refugee camps they are poor quality and lacking in number. To buy extra is very expensive given the meagre amount the refugees have to survive on. It is common for the people to use cloth rags, so that the little money they have can be spent on food and shelter. This can result in infections. Traumatic experiences have resulted in increasing incontinence throughout refugees camps.
I'm raising money for Loving Humanity, a pilot scheme which aims to:
To buy and install machines that make sanitary towels and incontinence pads in Za’atari refugee camp, Jordan.
To employ and teach a group of women to use the machines.
To manufacture reusable nappies for those suffering from incontinence.
To reduce health problems, restore dignity and create social uplift.
