Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April I will be running for Leukaemia Busters, a charity dedicated into finding a cure for leukaemia, a very aggressive type of cancer.
Leukaemia is a cancer of the blood which usually starts in the bone marrow. The bone marrow of those with leukaemia produce abnormal white blood cells, these are called leukaemia cells. Gradually more leukaemia cells are produced, which inhibit the function of healthy white blood cells an red blood cells. Consequently, this leads to a breakdown of a persons immune system an their ability to fight infections or even a simple everyday cold.
Having suffered first hand the devastation of losing a my brother Nikki to this illness, I want to show my support by raising funds for the invaluable research laboratories at Southampton General Hospital. The scientist in these laboratories develop anti-body treatments to fight these cancers, as an alternative to conventional chemotherapy that has potentially life threatening side effects. So far the charities research has resulted in development of successfully tested anti-body based drugs, however much more work needs to be done.
please donate as much as you can on the website to show you support for my half marathon challenge and help save lives. I hope to raise as much as I can to help fight a form of cancer that affects people throughout the world.
Thanks all in advance for your donations an your support.
