Thank you so much for visiting my page. I'm sorry for the remarkably awkward video of me. I did that video about a thousand times (okay slight exaggeration) but I most definitely needed Codie (dog face) to calm me down.

I am doing the Guatemala Spires of Fire trek for Alzheimer's Research which involves trekking for 7 days over 5 live volcanoes and summiting the highest peak in Central America. We have been promised that we will get to toast marshmallows over molten lava flows.

I am also doing a whole host of other stuff to raise money which I will update as I go along. I have the most amazing and wonderful friends who are offering so much of their time and support. I feel incredibly blessed and lucky.

I found out about the trek as I am a dementia champion at work and I found it whilst researching. It instantly grabbed my attention due to both my grandmother and granddad both having Alzheimer's.

My nan was like my mum growing up as my mum was a single parent working as a nurse making a life for us both. This meant I lived with my nan and so it is incredibly heart breaking that she has this horrible disease.

My nan was so selfless and dedicated her life to looking after others. It was hard coming back from University and realising that something wasn't quite right. The washing up had mounted up or the cooker was often still left on amongst the other tell tale signs of Alzheimer's. Although, the washing up probably wasn't the main indicator for me as I was a student and living with 3 boys who never did the washing up so it was normal sight for me.

It is hard that my nan no longer recognises me and I am a stranger to her when she means the world to me. So this is why I was drawn to doing this trek. Research is the only answer to defeating dementia and without the support and dedication from supporters like you, we wouldn’t be able to continue our vital research, bringing us closer to finding new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent dementia.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Again, thank you so much for visiting the page.
