Story

The idea to run 52 marathons in 52 weeks has actually been in my head for quite a while.  Life is short and we never know our limits until we push ourselves to them and beyond so why not just do it.

The 52nd marathon will also be 100th marathon in total.  I've already done 44 and i have 4 more to do before the 52 kicks off in Lanzarote in December 2018.  I sarted running cos I got ill and it literally became my lifeline but I never ever thought I'd ever run one marathon let alone 100.  5 years ago a 5k seemed like a crazy distance to me but here I am.

I wasn't initially going to raise money for a charity as part of the challenge but after being asked a lot who I'm running it for i thought that if I inspire people enough to part with a little bit of cash I might as well help a good local cause.  Most people don't think of me as disabled because I can run lots of miles but they don't see me on the days that I can't move or talk (my husband's favourite days).  The days when meals have to be planned around being able to eat with your hands and when drinks have to be put in a cup with a straw.  I don't want sympathy (and I don't need it, I'm lucky enough to have a very good life) but I do want to use this challenge as an oportunity to show that not all disabilities are visible.   You can have something that affects your normal every day activities even if you  don't fit the image of a person with disabilities yet I've personally been discriminated against because I don't fit the stereotype.  The more we talk about these things the better it gets :)
