Story
Scratchy came into the centre on the 31st of January as he had become very unsettled at home. He is such a sweet boy who loves a cuddle and a fuss.
Unfortunately Scratchy was underweight, very restless with an increased appetite and very vocal so we knew something wasn't quite right with this special boy.
Our cat care assistants and vet team gave Scratchy a good once over, did blood tests and decided it would be best to operate as soon as possible. So sweet little Scratchy underwent surgery to have his left thyroid removed, he is now in recovery with our staff and volunteers ensuring he has extra special attention.
A thyroidectomy costs the centre around £356.00 and is a fairly common procedure with cats over the age of 10.
Cats Protection rely on the generosity of the public to fund this vital work and
ensure the cats in our care receive the best possible treatment to go on and
live happy and healthy lives.
Scratchy will now spend approximately 1 month with one of our lovely foster carers while he recovers, he will need repeat blood tests to check his thyroid hormone levels are within normal levels. We keep our fingers crossed that Scratchy recovers well and bounces back. If not
the poor little boy may have to have his right thyroid removed too!
Can you help us raise the money to cover the cost of Scratchy's treatment and
ongoing care?
Any monies raised over and above the target will be used to help other cats and
kittens in our care so every penny helps!
