Story
For this year’s charity of choice across Mazars in the East Midlands we have chosen the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre at Nottingham Trent University, in memory of a great colleague and friend we had in Andy Breeze, who sadly lost his battle earlier in 2016.
Their aim is simply this: to improve diagnosis and treatment for the 1 in 2 of us that are predicted to be diagnosed with cancer during our lifetime.
The John van Geest Cancer Research Centre at Nottingham Trent University is a purpose built facility on the Clifton campus which is dedicated to research into Cancer biology. They aim is to create improvements to diagnosis, treatments and immunotherapeutic vaccines which have a significant real-life impact on survival rates. More than 35 scientists work within the centre and collaborate closely with clinical staff, including front line surgeons and consultants in local hospitals (Nottingham, Leicester and
Derby) as well as national and international collaborations on a variety of
projects.
As a research unit of Nottingham Trent – fundraising and marketing overheads are paid out of central University budgets, meaning that 100% of money received by the centre is used directly on research.
If you would like any further information please let me know and I will put you in direct contact with them or I can arrange a group tour of the research centre for you.
So then everyone, let’s dig deep and raise some money for this great charity over the coming year.
