Story
So, come 13 January 2017, I'll be driving over 1,000 miles across India in fancy dress, to help raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Starting off in the Rajasthani desert, I'll be spending the next 7 days trying to steer an old Mahindra Jeep with 2 co-drivers and no sat nav, down the east coast of India, to hopefully end up in Goa.
Considering that it's been over 10 years since I've driven a manual car, the fact that the cars are notorious for breaking down and that cows and elephants frequently take priority over traffic, literally anything could happen.
It's now less than a month to go and it's all starting to get a little too real! I've been shockingly bad at fundraising so far, so I'd welcome absolutely anything you can spare towards helping me meet my fundraising target for the the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The stats for cancer haven't improved over the years and approximately 7 young people between the age of 13 - 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the U.K.
Being a teenager is a pretty chaotic time of life at the best of times, but being a young person with a diagnosis of cancer must be an incredibly isolating experience. The Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity that provides youth support coordinators and funds 28 specialist childrens units within the NHS.
These clinics provide a support network for young people and a sense of normality at what must be a turbulent and frightening time of their lives. With the stats being so high, the number of specialist clinics out there is ridiculously low, but that's largely down to the costs of them.
Last year the charity spent approximately £3.6 million on building, developing and maintaining the units, so every penny that you can spare would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all
