WaterAid is an international non-profit with one goal: to change the world through water. Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity.

Story

Since June I've been training for the Bournemouth Marathon for WaterAid, to say it's been fun has would be a bit of an overstatement, nipple-rub, blisters and emergency toilet breaks have all been part of the training. Where you come in: is donating anything you can to help me raise money.

Here's why:

In the UK, we're lucky, we can turn the tap and drink clean water or get rid of waste with the flush of a toilet. As you know, that's not the case everywhere, 1 in 10 people still don't have access to safe drinking water. However, it is the effect this water has that causes the greatest problems: disease, disability and death. On average 1,400 children die every day due to poor sanitation. If this was happening in the UK it would be a scandal. Thankfully WaterAid are fighting this battle.

Water collection is almost exclusively the job of women and girls. Often young girls will walk miles carrying their own body weight in water on their heads or backs. Until 9 September the UK Government will match every donation to the To be a girl appeal – doubling the difference for girls around the world.

£15 is enough to give someone clean drinking water for life, cutting the risk of infection or disease, it's also the same as a Domino’s Pizza, but this one makes you feel better. Any money you can donate would be incredible, as it all really does help and then I really can't back out of it!
