I am hoping to be the first female to swim across this particular part of the Bristol Channel. It is further than the English Channel, straight line distance at the shortest point is approximately 39 kilometres, 21 nautical miles or 23.5 land miles (depending on your preferred unit of measurement).  On top of this you have to deal with the tide and the Bristol Channel has the second largest tidal range in the world (lucky me). So I thought why not give it a go.  I have been training a lot (which is not like me) and now just have to hope for some good weather.

Dolen Cymru is a charity that links Wales to Lesotho. Lesotho is a small country completely surrounded by South Africa and is a very poor country.  Dolen Cymru have a strong history of providing educational support and are now looking into providing medical links to the country also. I was lucky enough to go out to Lesotho in 2014 and visited the rural clinics which are run by nurses (in fact there are only 5 doctors per 100,000 population in the country).  We are hoping to be able to set up some teaching for the nurses who deal with anything that walks through the door in the rural clinics. This will take a lot of planning and logistics so will take a long time to achieve but hopefully it will be possible.
