We are cycling between Whitehaven (Cumbria) and Whitby (North Yorkshire) during the last weekend of July 2012 in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

 

The challenge starts with dipping the back wheel of the bike in the Irish Sea and will complete with the dipping of the front wheel in the North Sea.

 

We like a challenge and just in case we didn't think that cycling a very hilly 175 miles wasn't enough we have also added two of the steepest climbs in the UK to our ride as well (Hardknott Pass (Cumbria) and Rosedale Chimney (North Yorkshire) through 3 of the UK's most beautiful National Parks (Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors), stopping at interesting places along the route and all in support of a cause that we believe in.

 

All of the costs will be paid for from our own pockets i.e. train travel, subsistence etc.  This means that every pound that you donate will go to help GOSH - if you are a UK tax payer then please, if possible, Gift Aid your donation - doesn't cost you anything but maximises your donation.

 

The reason that we chose to help GOSH is for the reasons listed below:

 

- A lot of people do not realise that Great Ormond Street Hospital face an incredible task – to raise over £50 million every year. 

 

- The charity exists to support Great Ormond Street Hospital so that it can remain at the forefront of international paediatric medicine and continue to offer specialist, world-class care to thousands of patients every year.
