I am no boxer by any stretch, but I am doing this 10 week training and fight to raise money and increase awareness of a wonderful charity, SafeLives. They are on a mission to cut out domestic violence and sexual assault, and also work to keep people affected by them safe and able to carry on with life.
 
Anyone who knows me will understand why I feel this charity is so important but if you don’t here is a brief summary:

Approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men are raped in England and Wales every year; that's roughly 11 rapes (of adults alone) every hour. Roughly 1 in 5 women will experience some form of sexual violence between the ages of 16 - 59. . 

More people are affected by rape and sexual violence than we realise and the nature of it means victims often suffer in silence, not knowing who to go to for help or how to tell anyone. 

I am “1” of the 1 in 5. After years of fighting, sometimes I can forget, but at other times I am overwhelmed by the aftermath. The reason I am so inspired to spread SafeLives message and support them is because I experienced first-hand something that no one should have to go through  ever, yet alone, alone.I have some amazing friends and family around to support me - but not everyone does. This is where the magic of SafeLives’ work comes in.

Thank you for reading this far - I appreciate this isn't an easy topic for anyone but your support means everything. Regardless of the outcome, i promise you 15th March will be a fight to remember.
