We support young people at risk of suicide to stay safe and find hope in times of need

Story

I am a member of Lions International, an organisation hat supports many worthwhile causes in communities all over the world. This organisation is made out of 1,000's of clubs which are organised in Districts. Our current District Governor is Stewart, who we all dearly love. He is the best motivator and example of what Lions stand for ever! His husband Kash has chosen Papyrus as the DG Partner's charity. And he promotes it with an energy that has seen this charity become the focus of many activities in our District.

Suicide is a big taboo and I can understand why. But many families cope with this, I myself lost a close relative. Also, a member of our club investigates suicides on the railways and the stories he tells are tearing your heart apart. Whatever we can do to bring the numbers down is important.

I have cycled to our annual national convention a number of times in support of various charities. This time I dedicate my ride to Papyrus. Please donate generously.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK. PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide and believes that many young suicides are preventable. They operate HOPELINEUK, a confidential call, text, and email helpline for young people with thoughts of suicide or those concerned about a young person who may have thoughts of suicide. Every £5 raised can help pay for a potentially life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK from a young person wanting to stay safe from their thoughts of suicide. Thank you.
