On Thursday 17th September we three
directors from CaB Studios (Al, Ben and Kevin) are undertaking the annual
Staples2Naples banger rally, the original and leading European banger rally and
in turn raising as much money as we can for our chosen charity; Epilepsy
Bereaved.
The monumental
challenge we face is getting our £100 vehicle (a 1995 Volvo 440) from Calais to
Rome in 4 days – dressed as The Stig from Top Gear. That’s about 1,500 miles
taking in at least 3 countries; France, Switzerland and Italy on some of the
narrowest, highest passes that the Alps have to offer.
Epilepsy Bereaved is
a small charity very close to our hearts, their aim is to improve medical healthcare and support for people
suffering from epilepsy and their families as well as providing greater impetus
for research into SUDEP and other epilepsy related deaths through government
lobby. Epilepsy is one of the most under researched, least understood medical
conditions and anything that can be done to improve awareness of the dangers or
increase the amount of research funding available is hugely beneficial. There
is potential to prevent some of the 500 unnecessary deaths each year of young people so
please give as much as you can.
The Team:
Al Allaway – Al spent his formative years testing
F1 cars for Ferrari before becoming bored with the pedestrian pace and
switching career path for a life in design and marketing. Al co-founded CaB
Studios in 2003 with business partner and long time friend Ben Wood.
Ben Wood – The navigator, Ben comes into the
team vastly experienced from years of finding his way home from virtually every
far flung drinking establishment in the Stourbridge area. We call Ben ‘The
Pigeon’ for his incredible homing ability, so Calais to Rome should be a walk
in the park.
Kevin Price-Ward – The grease monkey, Kevin from
an early age has been mechanically minded moving from lego through mechano
before spending two years with NASA working on top secret engineering projects.
The urge to build his own company became too strong so he set up his own
Multimedia company in 2003 before merging with CaB 2 years later.
