Story
Well...I've finally made it! I've been dreaming of getting to the start line of the Great North for over two years and as I create this page I'm realising - it's actually going to happen!!
Two and a half years ago I started running, and just 8 months in after running a 10K race, I tore multiple ligaments in my hip and have been battling with a long list of hip related injuries, not helped by a car accident that resulted in a sprained sacroiliac joint earlier this year since.
I was due to run the Great North last year, but due to my injuries I had to defer it to this year. After countless treatments, physio sessions, bowen treatments and a long list of therapists who have been supporting me through my recovery, I'm now back fit and ready to take on this challenge!
I'm raising money for Family Gateway, a brilliant charity who tackle poverty and disadvantage in the North East, providing vital services for vulnerable children and families. They also provide community activities to bring the local community together.
Your donation today will help to fund these vital initiatives:
- Costs towards ‘Family Entrepreneurs’ to visit disadvantaged families and provide vital support to them.
- The introduction of a regular single mums ‘Play and Stay’ activity to offer peer support to vulnerable or isolated mums.
- Holiday activities and meals for families who struggle during the school holidays.
I'd really appreciate any support you can give, and be sure to check in with me on Sunday 8th on Facebook where I'll hopefully be over the line.. injury free!!
